Despite the rapid development of economy and technology in China, ancient wisdom and authentic Eastern culture still thrive in regions far removed from the cities. Implicit, subtle, and profound, Chinese culture is largely inherited and expressed in daily life—in what we eat, what we drink, what we listen to, and what we practice. It is alive.

Encountering authentic Eastern culture is like discovering a part of yourself that has always been there, which may feel remote and foreign, strangely familiar and deeply connecting all at once.

Rong Gao

"Curiosity is the beginning of understanding," says Rong Gao of her approach to tea.

Weaving inherited cultural wisdom with her interests in anthropology, history, incense, traditional medicine, music, and spirituality, Rong leads our Mindful Seasonal Retreats through intimate, first-person storytelling. She illuminates the breadth and complexity of Chinese culture over tea. In 2018, she traveled to 11 countries sharing her passion. Since then, she has led groups in Wuyishan.

Since ancient times, Chinese people have lived with nature. Wuyi Mountain, unique and symbolic, brings the modern and the ancient together. It is like a magical field where one is baptized by air, mountain, and tea.

Binyang Huang

"Birds over the trees witnessing the comings and goings of life, and I'm right here."

Fully present at every stage, he expresses the nuance of nature through his craftsmanship, conveying subtle changes and abundant aromas. He is also a naturalist, playing the Shakuhachi and photographing nature, expressing its simplicity and depth through improvisation and light.
